The project aims to create a hypertextual repertoire of frottole of Italian literature. The corpus of texts, together with information about the witnesses who have transmitted them, will be entered into a relational database. The primary purpose of the project is to collect and record data relating to the tradition of frottole in order to answer the question of how to define the genre, without which it would be impossible to establish the corpus. For this aim, the project includes the diplomatic-interpretative edition of all the texts transmitted by the manuscripts. All metrical elements (rhyme, verses, etc.) and textual indicators (bars, dots, etc.) present in the codices will be encoded. The project furthermore involves the critical digital edition of frottole that have not yet received an adequate ecdotic study.
